Mountain Bike Rentals Available (not free!)

Plönninge is a recently developed mountain bike park in partnership of Halmstad MTB Club and Region Halland. There are currently 10 professionally built mountain bike trails and a jump park. The area is developing every year, so expect more trails to come. This is so true as the site maps are already out of date, there are 3 new red lines! If you want a mountain bike rental, contact us and we can set up a delivery!
The best part is there are no fees. Riding is free, parking is free, and there are a few fire pits and shelters to hide out in if it starts raining. There are some trails that are not MTB trails, they are for walkers and horses, respect these signs! We don’t want horses on our trails, they don’t want bikers on theirs!
Plönninge is also right next to Nyårsåsen, a wild hillside area that has about 20 km of mixed use trails. If you decided to ride these trails, give other users the right of way, especially dog and horses!
There is a great beginner kids loop, like a longer pump track, that even kids on kick bikes can enjoy, though it can be fun for adults to push your limits and try and get a personal best (if there are no little ones in your way).
After the kids loop is the jump park. There are two jump lines built for those who are willing. It’s great to watch the teens push their limits here! There is a small barbecue area here.
Lower Plönninge – Djupadals – Kids & Jump Park – Nearest the parking

When cycling from the lower Djupadals area to the upper Kolmilan area USE the access road to the right, not the mountain bike trail, as you could have a collision with riders come down the trail. Remember, there are lots of kids riding here.
Upper Plönninge – Kolmilan – Blue and Red Runs

As Plönninge is built out the maps aren’t always up-to-date. There is a new Red line next to the Blue #6 and three red runs to the south. At the entry point to Kolmilan there is another rest area and small barbecue pit. These little picnic areas are key to enjoying your day with the kids! The climbing trail here is about 400m down the gravel road to your left, make sure that you don’t go UP any of the DOWN trails!!
Plönninge is a bit of a trick to get to. Use Harplinge church as your first landmark, keep going past it until you hit the old school, there you will start to pick up tiny signs for the MTB park.
Once you are in the parking you can head one of two ways, if you are adults, I would head to the top of the parking and head towards the more challenging trails, if you are with kids, head down past the entry area and follow the small trail in across the field to the left.

If you have ridden everything you can ride in Plönninge, you might want to explore the mixed use cross country trails around Nyårsåsen (the hills you are on).
It is quite popular to ride with families in nearby Haverdal Naturreservet, it is a very flat but fun place to ride. Can be quite busy with hikers, show respect for other trail users.
If you are looking for something more challenging, hop in the car and head over to Skedala. There are 3 advanced enduro lines that are constantly being upgraded, as well as 30+ km of natural multi-use trails. Lots to explore and enjoy.
