A small village invites the world to explore their roads
Linked together by four lakes fed by the lively Fylleån river, Simlångsdalen lies 16 km by bike path from Halmstad city center. This small community with a church, shop and kiosk, hotel with restaurant as well as a pizzeria are a fantastic lauch pad for all kinds of cycling adventures. Linked by paved cycling routes (Kattegattleden, Hylteleden, Hallands Inland Cykelleden) and 220 km coast to coast gravel route the Bolmenbana, and the hiking route the Hallandsleden. Simlångsdalen is 6km from Skedala forest and 50+km of trails, and the valley itself contains another 50km of mixed use of trails.
Hosting the Gravel Epic Simlångsdalen, July 7th, and the UCI World Gravel Tour: Gravel, Grit’n’Grind Halmstad, August 18 (Days 1 and 2 are in Halmstad), Simlångsdalen has a lot to offer the more athletic visitor.
For those who are looking for a more relaxed weekend adventure of exploring the seemingly infinite amount of accessible wilderness (read more about the right of public access), Simlångsdalen has so much to offer.
A first day’s tour could be our 40km intermediate route ‘Through Hobbiton’, which sees you ride gravel roads and farm trails around the southern reaches of the valley, including a visit to Camp Mayfly Ulvered’s Deer Farm. This is a unique lunch spot, built as a hunt lodge, it has a beautiful interior and you can watch the deer being fed right at the window as you eat, well, let’s be honest, fresh deer!
Perhaps day two your group is looking to get their adventure on, how about the 2022 route of the Day 3 Gravel, Grit’n’Grind UCI race? No one has ever walked away from this route claiming it was too laid back! At 83 km and 1200m of climbing, everyone will get their adventure on.
The last day of your holiday, perhaps you are looking for a more relaxed day, but obviously still on the bike. You could try renting a mountain bike and hitting some of the enduro trails in nearby Skedala forest. Or, you can stick to the gravel trails and fill your belly with the Taste of the Wilderness tour that features 4 different eateries en route!
